John Allen Denny (born November 8, 1952 in Prescott, Arizona) is a former righthanded Major League Baseball pitcher from 1974 to 1986 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds. Denny's best season came in 1983 for the Phillies when he posted a 19-6 won-loss record with a 2.37 Earned Run Average. For this achievement, he was awarded the National League Cy Young Award. Denny was also the winning pitcher in Game 1 of the World Series that year, which was the only game the Phillies won as they were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles.
